A sequel to , tailored to the non-face-to-face era after the pandemic.
“Babiretta,” which moved away from the proscenium stage and removed the boundary between the audience and the community dance or immersive theater format, opened the way for the unprecedented PANDEMIC era in 2020 with “Today, Here‴.” Performing arts, which emphasize real-time presence, were hit hard. However, paradoxically, it became a time to deeply feel the importance of connection and sharing. In the audience participation type <You Are Now Living in Babiretta>, communication through direct contact with the audience was a major part of the performance, but new possibilities were discovered through non-contact and non-face-to-face attempts.
「Babiretta」 is a community performance that includes dance, music, theater, and talk, and is not fixed to one genre, but richly stimulates the audience’s five senses through expressions of various genres. Free and in-depth talk awakens the audience’s thinking and evokes a variety of emotions.
In addition, the meaning and purpose is to acknowledge that not only the genre of art, but also the performers and the visiting audience have diverse identities, and embrace all differences. Different people gather in one space, feel each other’s body temperature, listen to each other’s stories, and find the value of being together.
In addition, I hope that the new values gained and felt through dancing experiences with others will be able to infect people, society, and the world in various ways beyond the performance hall.
