NEO-Kut is a space of the spiritual world that is recreated through the re-ritual of the space of Jeju Shaman, where the 8,000 gods have been passed down between the world of the living and the world of the dead since ancient times, and the virtual world created by projection light. The audience will experience a spiritual space made of sound and light through the wearable audio-visual installation.
The NEO-Kut embodies the spiritual sensibility of Jeju, which has been passed down for thousands of years, and the aesthetics of the long-standing life, highlighting the relational energy invisible to the eye rather than the visible. This Neo-Kut aims to embody the original form of Korean traditional art, the Gut culture.
Jesun Seosunshil Simbang (President of Jeju Great Gut Preservation Association) and Moyongbu Simbang, traditional artists representing Jeju, together with members of the Traditional Arts Performance Development Institute (Non-profit organization) express the mysterious realm of the divine in Jeju, which was intangible until now, through NEO-Kut, allowing the audience to feel closer.
